Resources for UNIX Professionals
At slashbin you will find a vast collection of information dealing with a wide range of issues related to the UNIX/Linux Operating System. I have collected this information throught my many years as a UNIX professional. This information is presented as procedures which describe some task that you may need to perform, short answers to some specific tasks, examples of ksh and Perl scripting, as well as some examples of documentation you may want to use at your own site.

Scripting
This site contains a selection of both shell scripts and Perl programs. The code contained in them performs a wide variety of tasks from systems monitoring to backup and restore. I advise you to always test new software on a test (non-production) system before you move it to a critical system. See the disclaimer on this page. Clarity of purpose is a basic rule of good systems administration. Know what you are doing and why you are doing it.

HACMP

My experiences with HACMP have enabled me to develop procedures and processes which help me keep my clusters running as designed. I have included a tutorial that will help you get a cluster up and running. I also have included information on installing HACMP fixes. You can also find templates for documenting your cluster.

Services

If you are pressed for time or feel that you need some help implementing your system I also offer consulting services. I can help you with a wide range of tasks from setting up your hardware and creating LPARS, to designing and configuring your HACMP cluster.
